Summary. Current conceptions about influence of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on gastric mucosa are described in the article. Mechanisms of gastric mucosa adaptation occur due to prolonged using of nonselective NSAIDs under the action of cytoprotective mediators are presented. Examples of gastric mucosa adaptation in patients with osteoarthritis exposed to long-term treatment of diclofenac sodium are shown.
