INFLUENCE OF STATINS ON LIPID METABOLISM, LIPID PEROXIDATION AND PROTEINS, DEPENDING ON THEIR BASELINE LEVEL IN PATIENTS WITH STABLE CHDSummary. The purpose of the study is to determine the normalizing effect of statins on lipid metabolism and lipid peroxidation and lipid and protein dependence on their initial disturbances. Venous blood that was taken on an empty stomach before and after two months of treatment with atorvastatin (20 mg per day), or lovastatin (40 mg daily), or simvastatin (40 mg daily) was studied in 54 patients with stable coronary artery disease. It has been established that the degree of reduction of total cholesterol and triglycerides of blood in patients with coronary heart disease under the influence of statins depends on their baseline. With a significant initial increase in total cholesterol and triglycerides of blood relative to normal, the percentage of their decrease under the influence of identical doses of statins is significantly higher than with a moderate initial increase. The degree of reduction of the level of total cholesterol and triglycerides of blood under the influence of statins does not affect the degree of reduction of peroxide oxidation of lipids and proteins. The expression of the normalizing effect of statins on the peroxide oxidation of lipids and proteins directly depends on the initial levels of these processes. No Comments » Add your |
