ADAPTATION AND VALIDATION OF THE UKRAINIAN VERSION OF THE NECK DISABILITY INDEX (INDEX OF LIMITATION OF LIFE ACTIVITY DUE TO NECK PAIN) IN PATIENTS WITH ANKYLOSING SPONDYLItisShkolina N.V., Shapoval I.I., Stanislavchuk M.A. Summary. The aim of the study: to create a Ukrainian-language version of the NDI questionnaire, translation and cross-cultural adaptation with subsequent assessment of its validity in patients with AS. Methods and materials: Translation and cross-cultural adaptation NDI were performed following the Guidelines for the process of cross-cultural adaptation of self-report measures and under the proposals of the MAPI Research Institute. The study included patients with neck pain and a diagnosis of AS (n = 63), according to modified New York criteria. AS activity was determined by BASDAI, functional disorders were assessed by BASFI. Statistical analysis of the results was performed using IBM SPSS22 (©SPSS Inc.). The reliability of the Ukrainian-language version of NDI was evaluated by the test-retest method with a weekly interval. In addition, the internal consistency of the questionnaire was assessed by calculating the alpha Cronbach’s ratio. Results: Significant direct correlations were established between all components of the NDI test-retest questionnaire: with pain intensity (r=0.631), in the categories related to work, lifting objects and headache (r=0.979; r=0.917 and r=0.942). The average value of the final NDI-test was 18.67±6.79, and for NDI-retest — 18.28±6.07. NDI was significantly correlated with disease duration, BASDAI, BASFI (r=0.304; 0.268; 0.386), and the association with age and VAS was insignificant. The Ukrainian version of the NDI questionnaire demonstrated high reliability (alpha-Cronbach’s ratio = 0.972) and internal consistency (rSpearman = 0.933, p<0.01). Conclusions: The Ukrainian version of the NDI questionnaire has sufficient reliability and validity for further use in scientific and medical practice in the Ukrainian-speaking population.
